Bill Carmichael
Bio note
Bill Carmichael worked with Sir John Crawford and Alf Rattigan in establishing Australia’s Industries Assistance Commission in 1973, was its chief-of-staff until 1984 and executive member then chairman from 1984 until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the international study group, led by former GATT chief Olivier Long during the Uruguay Round, on the role of transparency in domestic preparations for international trade negotiations.
 
Greg Cutbush
Bio note
Greg Cutbush is based at the Crawford School of Economics and Government at Australian National University in Canberra, where he is a Visiting Fellow and economics consultant.  He has 15 years experience in the public sector and 20 in the private sector. Before arriving at ANU in June 2007, Greg was a Vice President in the economics consulting firm CRA International (2005-2007), and before that a senior consultant with ACIL Tasman (1988-2005).  His earlier positions have included Assistant Commissioner at the Industries Assistance Commission (where he worked almost continuously from 1975 to 1988).  Greg's career in trade analysis includes significant periods with international trade agencies, having been in the Agricultural Policy Division of the OECD in Paris from 1979 to 1981 and having worked, since 1983, with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank on assignments in 10 developing countries.
 
Saul Eslake
Bio note
Saul Eslake has been Chief Economist at the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) since August 1995. He was a member of the previous Commonwealth Government's Trade Policy and Foreign Affairs Councils, and is a member of the National Housing Supply Council and the National Long-Term Tourism Strategy Steering Committee established by the current Government. He is also Chair of the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board and a non-executive director of Hydro Tasmania.
 
Charles Finny
Bio note
Charles Finny is Chief Executive of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce.  He is a former diplomat and trade negotiator with extensive experience in the WTO, APEC and bilateral FTA negotiations.  The Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce is a strong supporter of trade liberalization and is the only New Zealand participant in the Global Services Coalition, an international grouping interested in achieving ambitious outcomes on trade in services in multilateral and regional trade negotiations.
 
Denis Hussey
Bio note
Denis Hussey (Chairman) is an economics and public policy analyst with qualifications in agricultural science and economics. He was the Deputy Director of the Bureau of Agricultural Economics and Head of the Policy Division of the Commonwealth Department of Primary Industry. Subsequently he was a Principal, Managing Director and then Executive Chairman of ACIL Consulting (now ACIL Tasman).
